Tigers Win An Overtime Thriller Against William & Mary

On Thursday, the Towson Tigers (14-7, 4-3) faced off against the William & Mary Tribe (13-6, 6-2) in a CAA Conference game. This is the second meeting against the Tribe this season, but the game seemed to end in familiar fashion. In the last two meetings between the two, the Tigers had to fight their way back into the games and this one was almost out of their reach so much that it went into overtime.

Good passing lead the Tigers to an early 8-point advantage, but they trailed at the half by 10. The Tigers defense was here to play, forcing 7 turnovers and scoring 12 points in the first half off of them.

Mike Morsell opened the second half with a nice dunk, but soon after Zane Martin took over on his way to a career and SECU Arena high game.

Down 2 with about a minute left, the man of the night, Zane Martin, drove to the basket for a lay up attempt where he was fouled for two shots and a chance at a tie game and he hit both. With a chance to win the game, the Tribe had a chance at a lay up but was rejected off of a chase down by Dennis Tunstall which forced overtime.

From then on, it was the Tiger show as they outscored the Tribe 17-3 in the period. The Tigers won 96-82. Martin finished with a career high 35 points, shooting 13 of 18, which included the tying free throws.

Next up for the Tigers is a Saturday game at 2:00pm against Elon.
