Terps Roll Past Towson
The Maryland Terrapins football team improved to 2-0 after dismantling the Towson Tigers 63-17. The Terps, led by Junior running back Ty Johnson and Junior receiver DJ Moore, used 534 total yards of offense to take down the Tigers. Johnson, (5 rushes, 124 yards, 2 TD’s), and Moore, (7 rec, 97 yards, 2 TD’s, 1 rushing TD). The Terrapins also had another solid outing from Freshman quarterback Kasim Hill in his first career start, after taking over for Sophomore Tyrrell Pigrome in the win against #23 Texas. Hill, (13-16, 163 yards, 2 TD’s). Pigrome tore his ACL and is out for the remainder of the season.
Maryland ran all over Towson with 367 total rushing yards and held the Tigers to only 99 rushing yards. Towson racked up more passing yards though, 210-167. With that being said, the Terps ran the ball for the most part as they built up a massive lead over the Tigers. It is impressive that the Terps don’t have to throw every possession to win football games. Ty Johnson is a sigh of relief.
Towson was led by RS Freshman Ryan Stover and Freshman receiver Rodney Dorsey. Stover, (21-36, 210 yards, 2 TD’s, 2 INT’s), and Dorsey, (3 rec, 56 yards, TD).
Maryland will get ready to take on UCF, (1-0), Saturday 8/23 at Capital One Field after getting a week off.
