#9 Maryland Loses High-stakes game on Senior Day

The Terps lost 2-1 in 2OT earlier today to the Michigan Wolverines. It was their fourth straight loss, all of which have come in home games at Ludwig Field. The losing streak constitutes their first of four games since 1993(!!). They will begin their conference tournament pursuit next week as the #4 seed.

Maryland had a chance in their last regular season game of the year to win the Big Ten outright and head into the conference tournament as the #1 seed. By way of the tie earlier in the day between Indiana and Michigan St, the winner of Maryland and Michigan's matchup would end up as the #1 seed in the tournament while the loser got the 4 seed. Maryland also would have secured the #2 seed with any kind of result, which showed in their undeniably conservative play near the end of the game, as they were outshot 17-0 in the final 20 minutes of regulation.

Michigan scored early in the game with this 6th minute goal from Daniel Mukana

The Terps responded with this 37th minute goal from DJ Reeves

Ultimately, Michigan scored the game winner in 2OT to secure the B1G championship
