Unboxing the 2019/20 Hershey Bears Schedule

Happy Christmas in July one and all!

Christmastime is once a year, every creature holds it dear…..oops sorry wrong game!
At a time, when the sports calendar year is at its lowest, the Hockey Gods smiled apon us and gave unto us the full 2019/20 AHL Hershey Bears hockey season. At 3pm EST, the schedule dropped and already me and my crew are theorizing road trips, now yesterday I told you about October 5th being opening night for the Hershey Bears, but what about the other 75 games, well sit back and get ready because your winter has been spoken for.

The first big change from last year is No Western Conference teams. For the past 2 years the Hershey Bears have taken on 3 opponents from the Central division: Grand Rapids Griffins, Milwaukee Admirals and the Rockford Icehogs. Those 3 were chosen for proximity, ties to the Bears (GM Brian Helmer played for GRR and Milwaukee played Hershey in the 2006 Calder Cup Finals) Unfortunately due to scheduling the Midwest roadies were always early in the season, giving a team a chance to bond but also played the Bears at there weakest. The Home dates would be sparkled throughout the season, giving the GC faithful a ch acne to see different opponents. Unfortunately this season, it didn’t work out because BOTH teams have to being willing yo do such a trip Hershey was willing, this year it wasn’t meant to be, also going 1-5 on the road against them didn’t help.

This left the door open to schedule more familiar teams, the Bears will play Binghamton 1 more time going from 2 to 4
Charlotte will go from 4 times to 8 times
The Battle of Pa will resume as we will play Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins and Lehigh Valley Phantoms 12 times yet again, the majority of WBS road games will be on Friday nights, and the Phantoms have a mix of Saturday night and Sunday afternoon games, I urge any Bears fan to go to the PPL Center or as I call it, The Eltecrodrome.

Hershey will play other Atlantic division opponents Providence 6 x, Hartford 6x Springfield 6x and Springfield 8x and Bridegeport 6x. Also the North, Cleveland 4x, Binghamton 4 times the rest of the division si 2 times (1/1)

The Bears have a home-heavy holiday schedule with 16 home games from Halloween to New Years, and are Road heavy to start the season with the Canada road trip (Toronto, Belleville, and Laval on October 16, 18 and 19, all at 7pm. Another long road trip is at the end of the Season from March 31st to April 10th where they will have there last 5 out of 6 games on the road at Cleveland March 31st and April 2nd, then to Charlotte, North Carolina April 4th and 5th, then to Binghamton, NY April 10th to finish the road portion and the Season finale on April 11th Vs Cleveland.
A Northeast road trip will take place before the ASG in Ontario California when they go to Springfield for 2 games January 22 and 24th then to Providence on the 25th before a week long break.

Lastly, a tradition unlike any other is back after a year hiatus, the Thanksgiving Eve game is back on November 27th vs. Providence.
Welp, that will do it for me, as this will be last bit of news for a while as we push off into the long, hot off-season of hockey.
