Nationals prevent sweep in a 7-0 shutout win again Braves; recap 9/15/19

The Washington Nationals beat the Atlanta Braves Sunday afternoon at Nationals Park. Nationals’ record currently stands at 82-66. The Braves drop to 93-58.

Anibal Sanchez pitched a very strong seven innings for Washington. Sanchez allowed three hits and three strikeouts while pitching. Hunter Strickland allowed one hit and two strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the bottom of the second inning, catcher Yan Gomes singled to right, first baseman Howie Kendrick scored and Robles scored.

At the bottom of the third inning, Kendrick singled to center, Soto to second.. Also, center fielder Victor Robles walked, Soto scored, Dozer to second, Kendrick to third.

Additionally, in the bottom of the fifth Kendrick homered to left (418 feet).

Lastly, in the bottom of the sixth, right fielder Adam Eaton grounded out into double play first to shortstop to third, Robles scored, Turner out at second, Adrian Sanchez out at third.

With a win over the Braves, the Nationals head to St. Louis to play the Cardinals tomorrow at 7;30pm. Pitching for the Nationals will be Stephen Strasburg.
