Nationals begin second half of season strong with a 4-0 shutout against Phillies

The Washington Nationals began the second half of the season strong by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 4-0. Stephen Strasburg provided six strong innings in which he gave up seven hits and one walk and recorded six strikeouts. He now stands at an 11-4 record with a 3.46 ERA. Wander Suero, Fernando Rodney, and Sean Doolittle provided strong relief innings, and this win now leaves the Nationals at 48-42.

In the second inning, Victor Robles hit a RBI single that scored Juan Soto and Ryan Zimmerman. In the third, Zimmerman's sacrifice fly scored Adam Eaton, and in the ninth, Soto's sacrifice fly scored Howie Kendrick. This gives fans and players alike a small promise of a good second half and a good run for the postseason.

Tomorrow, Patrick Corbin is set to duel Aaron Nola. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. This game will be broadcast on FOX instead of MASN.
