Nationals beat Brewers 16-8; recap 8/18/19

The Washington Nationals beat the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday afternoon at Nationals Park. The Nationals’ record currently stands at 67-56. The Brewers drop to 64-60.

Erick Fedde pitched a very strong five innings for Washington. Fedde allowed ten hits and two strikeouts. Kyle McGowin allowed five hits and two strikeouts in relief for Washington.

At the bottom of the first, first baseman Matt Adams homered to right center (438 feet), Turner scored and Eaton scored. Also, center fielder Victor Robles homered to center (429 feet).

In the bottom of the second, Adam Eaton tripled to deep right, Yan Gomes scored and Turner scored.

In addition, in the bottom of the third, second baseman Brian Dozier homered to left (381 feet), Adams scored and Robles scored. Also, third baseman Anthony Rendon homered to left (381 feet), Gomes scored and Eaton scored. Juan Soto homered to left (360 feet).

At the bottom of the fifth, right fielder Adam Eaton homered to center (415 feet). Also, Juan Soto homered to right (367 feet). With 2 HRs today, Juan Soto became the 3rd player in MLB history to hit 50 before turning 21.

Finally, in the bottom of the eighth, Dozier homered to center (411 feet).

With a win over the Brewers, the Nationals head to Pittsburgh for a four game series with the Pirates starting tomorrow at 7:05pm. Pitching for the Nationals will be Joe Ross.
