Hershey Bears have a tough three and three on the road

The Hershey Bears start off the weekend in Providence, Rhode Island. Three of Hershey’s games this month are against the Providence Bruins, including the two this weekend. Bears and Bruins are lining up for an epic match up this weekend as they battle for points in the tough Atlantic Division standings. The Bears visit the Dunkin’ Donuts Center for a pair of games this weekend, then play host to Providence on March 30th in Hershey. Hershey so far this season has a record of 1-2-0-0 against the the P-Bruins, but won the last battle, 2-1, at Giant Center on December 30th.

Game Notes: Providence’s roster has a few changes, including the addition of former Bear Paul Carey who has 11 goals in 18 games since joining the team from the Belleville Senators.

Hershey Bears forward Riley Barber has now officially tied his career-high in goals with 26. He leads the AHL in power play points with 29.

200 ASSISTS FOR AARON: In last Friday’s overtime loss at Utica, defender Aaron Ness posted a milestone when he registered his 200th professional assist. Ness has collected 195 helpers in the AHL and five in the NHL during his 549 pro games. Ness’ 37 assists are tied for first in the AHL among defenders, and tie a personal best set during the 2014-15 campaign with Bridgeport. 

KEEPING IT 100: Goaltender Vitek Vanecek’s next appearance will be the 100th of his AHL career. The 23-year-old netminder is 46-32-12 in his 99 games with Hershey, registering a 2.75 goals against average, a .901 save percentage, and eight shutouts. Vanecek, Hershey’s lone representative in the 2019 AHL All-Star Classic, has gone 17-for-20 in the shootout this season, securing three of Hershey’s league-best seven shootout wins.
