Dylan Bundy shines, Orioles shutout Rays 3-0 game recap 5/4/19

The Baltimore Orioles hosted the division leading Tampa Bay Rays tonight, while Camden Yards had their annual Star Wars night at the ballpark.

Dylan Bundy certainly felt the force tonight, pitching a strong 7.1 innings, giving up no runs off three hits while striking out four and walking one. Bundy picked up his first win of the season.

Dwight Smith got the Orioles on the board early, hitting into a double play that scored Jonathan Villar. This gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead in the first.

In the third, Jonathan Villar got into a fielders choice, which in turn scored Stevie Wilkerson. Orioles then took a 2-0 lead.

Stevie Wilkerson got the start in centerfield tonight, and took advantage of the playing time he has been given. Wilkerson went 2-3 with a double and a run scored tonight. Stevie has improved his batting average now to .278.

In the fourth inning, Dwight Smith went yard, smashing his sixth Homerun of the season to centerfield, giving the Orioles their ultimate lead of 3-0. Dwight Smith now has a batting average of .298, itching very close to that .300 mark.

Mychal Givens came in for the save in the ninth, and had an easy three up three down inning to secure the victory. This was his third save this year.

The Orioles host the Tampa Bay Rays again Sunday at 1:05 pm at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
