Capitals hire new bench boss in Spencer Carbery

The Washington Capitals hired Spencer Carbery as their new head coach. Carbery has coached at all three levels of the Capitals organization. He coached the Carolina Stingrays, and was named a coach of the year with that team. He then won the same honor with the Hershey Bears. He was also a player for the Stingrays. It is important to note that he has coached some of the players that have come up from Hershey, as well as players who are currently on that team. He also played two seasons with the Stingrays.

One of the tall tasks, he has to accomplish or improve upon this upcoming season, are incorporating more youth and speed into a roster full of older veterans who have been around for a while. This includes reworking the lines, and figuring out who to bring up from Hershey that is ready and able to contribute at a high level.

He will also have a new defensive coach, as well as power play coach on the bench with him. He is going to assist in helping find the right fit in order to have the best assistant coaches giving them the best chance to win.
