Anthony Rendon and Max Scherzer to represent Nationals at 2019 All-Star Game

Anthony Rendon and Max Scherzer will be representing the Washington Nationals at this year's MLB All-Star Game in Cleveland, Ohio. For Scherzer, this will be his seventh consecutive All-Star Game, and for Rendon, his first. Nationals fans had long hoped that Rendon's performance would earn him a spot on either the starting or reserve All-Star rosters, and at last, the time has come for Rendon to shine on the national stage. While Scherzer will not immediately get the ball for this year's All-Star Game (that honor goes to Hyun-Jin Ryu of the Los Angeles Dodgers), fans will be sure to see him pitch in relief in early innings.

Rendon's 2019 stats include a .311 batting average, 19 home runs, 58 RBIs, a 1.028 OPS, and 2.8 WAR. Scherzer has posted an 8-5 record, a 2.43 ERA, and 170 strikeouts.
