Washington Wizards Take Bucks 107-104 On Their 50th Season Anniversary Night

The Washington Wizards ‘business week’ started well and ended badly. The Wizards won games against the Bucks, lost to the Warriors and then Friday night to the Raptors.

Wizards vs. Bucks
Washington Wizards Game Statistics Leaders: Beal 21 Points; Beal 8 Assists; Porter, Beal & Gortat 8 Rebounds each.
Milwaukee Bucks Game Statistics Leaders: Giannis 23 Points; Giannis 8 Assists; Giannis 13 Rebounds.

The Wizards played the Milwaukee Bucks in Milwaukee Wednesday on the night of their celebration for it being their 50th season. I have never seen a home team win one of these games. This game was no different with the Wizards ending the first half leading the bucks 40-22 and eventually winning 107-104.

Kareem ‘Skyhook’ Abdul-Jabbar, who led the Bucks to their sole championship, was in the house seated front row. This was like the kiss of death for the Bucks.

It was a thumping from the very beginning. I was kind of shocked because Jabari Parker is back, I’d assumed they’d keep steam rolling teams. Their coach must have torn into them at the half-time because they came out after the half determined to close the lead. They were able to lessen the lead and come close, but lost 107-104.

The Wizards continued to look good without John Wall, who is slated to be back within 2-4 weeks. Everyone seems to be playing harder, but as always, other teams are clearly in their video bag and sometimes the match ups have been problematic. People and players often regress to their mean. So whether it’s a step up of individual efforts that can’t be maintained, or the new way they are doing things, remains to be seen. On the ‘Players Only’ they were talking about whether John Wall will have to adjust to this new look Wizards, OR will they have to adjust to him. Guess we’ll soon find out.
