Machado and Britton both struggling since leaving Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles traded Manny Machado and Zach Britton about a month ago. The Orioles acquired a total of eight players including some top prospects, for the complete stories click on the links on the players name.
So far Britton has only pitched in eight games for the New York Yankees and has struggled. Britton has a 7.36 era and has allowed six earned runs in eight games. Cody Carroll, one of the pitching prospects that the Orioles acquired from the Yankees has already been called up and pitching for the Orioles. Carroll has the same era as Britton at 7.36 but has shown some big time promise.
Britton has had injury problems but was starting to pitch well for the Orioles when he got traded.
Machado already has 110 plate appearances for the LA Dodgers and he has been average at best. Machado only has two home runs and six RBI’s for the Dodgers along with a modest .258 batting average. Machado is a great player and the change of a team may be bad for him.
The Orioles got pretty big returns for two star players as they should have. Right now both Britton and Machado are not living up to their price tag.
