Brandon Hyde thinking about the present and not the future
Hyde continuing to stay focused on the present as he was questioned about the postseason, he sternly said: “We’re playing the Astros.”
In a pre-practice statement, Brandon Hyde was very terse and rather angered with the questioning from reporters about the postseason. “We’re playing the Astros,” said Brandon Hyde, “I’m not focused on the future, I’m focused on the right now.” The 70-42 Baltimore Orioles have been the talk of baseball with their cohesive play and loose, welcoming atmosphere.
When asked about the dig from Dusty Baker while at the Astros were at the White House, Hyde calmly dismissed it and said, “they’re coming here to Camden Yards. They spent time with the head of state in D.C. and probably had lunch, but we’re focused on what’s to come right now, I really don’t have time to nitpick at what Baker said.” Fans have applauded Hyde’s tough-nosed approach to questioning lately as the regular season prepares to head into its final months.
Fans were rather perplexed at Dusty Baker’s dig at Baltimore saying that the Orioles were playing a really big series for the first time in 5 years, which in turn was true but ruffled fans’ fathers.
But it is good to see that Manager Brandon Hyde is putting the kibosh on any kind of talk about the postseason and letting reporters know that: Hey, we’re focused on the now, not the future.
