Towson Heads To Newark In Pivotal CAA Matchup

The Towson men’s basketball team is heading up to the University of Delaware tonight in what I am personally deeming a must-win game. The Tigers are coming in on a two-game winning streak after a harsh five-game losing streak. It’s unclear at this time if Cam Holden is back from suspension, or if Jason Gibson will ever be healthy again, but that doesn’t matter.

Towson isn’t known as the biggest sports school around, but if you were to ask them who their primary rival is, it would be Delaware. Home football games against them always draw the largest student crowd, and they’re the closest CAA school to them geographically, only being about an hour away. Oh yeah, they were also the team that bounced Towson from the CAA tournament in the semis last year when the Tigers were the #1 seed. That was the best chance the program has had to make the NCAA tournament in decades and they blew it.

This game is their first chance at revenge, and what better way to dish it out than on their turf? Holden and Gibson out? Oh well, Jammer Nelson Jr. is out for UDel, which evens things out in a way. If Nick Timberlake has to drop 30 and take a majority of the teams shots to get there, that’s fine by me. Justice needs to be served, and the oddmakers need to be shown that favoring Towson by 2.5 was too small of a number.

Game tips at 7. I’ll see everyone at CVP to celebrate at 9.
