Recap: Nationals Defeat Astros, 4-2
The Washington Nationals held off the Houston Astros, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon in spring training action. The Nats’ record now stands at 6-3. The Astros’ drop to 4-3.
Anibal Sanchez pitched a very strong two innings for Washington. Allowing 4 hits and 2 runs. Sanchez struck out zero. Joe Ross also impressed with an inning and allowing one strikeout while pitching. Trevor Rosenthal struggled in relief for the Nats. The right-hander had an earned run average of 0.00. Rosenthal only pitched for one inning.
Offensively, the long ball ruled for Washington. Belting out singles to the right as a team, Brian Dozier, Trea Turner, Yan Gomez, Raudy Reed.
Defensively, the bottom of the 7th inning had a lot of action happening as Raudy Reed singled to the center, and Jake Noll grounded out to the center, and Carter Kieboom grounded out into a double play. The score was still 4-2.
