Ravens report card: The defense and special teams 12/14/2014

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 20 to 12.  For the report card on the offense go here.

Defensive Line: This was a near historic day for the defensive line.  The Ravens had eight sacks in this game and this unit combined with the linebackers saved the day for the Ravens.  Timmy Jernigan had two sacks and is looking like a keeper.  Grade A++

Linebackers: Terrell Suggs had 2.5 sacks and C.J. Mosley added one as well.  This unit was awesome like always Mosley and Daryl Smith had seven tackles each.  Elvis Dumervil also had a sack.  Grade A

Secondary: The injuries keep coming for the Ravens secondary.  Luckily the Ravens faced a rookie quarterback who was getting hit every other passing attempt.  Asa Jackson played well and had eight tackles before getting injured.  Jeromy Miles had a timely interception.  Grade B

Overall: Dominate performance by the Ravens defensive line.  Any game in which a team has eight sacks they are usually in good shape to win.  Grade A

Special Teams: Justin Tucker missed two field goals and the team let the Jaguars kick an onside kick.  Not only that but the Jaguars converted on a fake punt.  Worse day for the special teams all season.  The special teams hurt the Ravens.  Grade E

Coaching Staff: Another slow start for the Ravens and the special teams coach got tricked.  This game should not have been as close as it was.  Grade B
