Navy Sports: Weekend Results (10/26-10/29)
Here’s a look at how the Naval Academy’s teams fared the final weekend in October. Also included are “Notable Performances” from each event. Congratulations to all the athletes. Raise the Sail!
Men’s Cross Country
Finished fourth in team standing in the Patriot League Men’s Cross Country Championship at Bucknell University.
Notable Performance: Kevin Murray (junior, Wilmington, DE) was the fastest runner in the field of 112 entrants by 8.5 seconds, posting a final time of 25:27.5.
Women’s Cross Country
Finished third in the Patriot League Women’s Cross Country Championship in Lewisburg, PA.
Notable Performance: Grace West (junior, Pinehurst, NC) finished fourth in the individual results with a time of 21:56.7.
Football (2-6, 1-3 AAC)
Lost to Notre Dame, 44-22 in San Diego, CA. {FULL RECAP}
Sprint Football (5-1, 4-0)
Beat Penn 20-9 in Philadelphia Friday night to claim the Collegiate Sprint Football League South Division title.
Notable Performance: Gavin O’Donnell (senior DL, Greenfield Township, PA) had 11 total tackles, including 5.5 for loss and 3.5 sacks.
Heavyweight Rowing
Finished with a trio of top-three results with six crews participating in the Head of Schuykill Regatta in Philadelphia.
Notable Performance: Navy’s first boat in the Men’s Freshmen Eights won the event with a final time of 12:39.153.
Lightweight Rowing
After entering ten boats in the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie, the Mids finished with three top-ten results.
Notable Performance: Navy’s ‘A’ boat finished third in the Men’s Varsity Eights with a time of 13:24.458 on the 2.75 mile course.
Intercollegiate Sailing
Finished third at the War Memorial Regatta, concluding its fall regular season.
Offshore Sailing
Navy had three crews competing in the J/105 Chesapeake Bay Championship this weekend, finishing 8th, 12th and 15th out of 21 teams.
Notable Performance: Hayden Kuzemchak (sophomore, Ligonier, PA) captained the crew of the Avenger to finish 18th.
Men’s Soccer (4-11-1, 3-5-0 PL)
Beat Colgate 1-0 on Sunday afternoon for the Mids’ third straight victory.
Notable Performance: Jacob Williams (freshman, Millersville, MD) repeated as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week after scoring on a penalty kick in the 17th minute off a penalty kick.
Women’s Soccer (11-5-3, 7-2-0 PL)
Beat Bucknell, 3-0, to close out their regular season.
Notable Performance: Baseley McClaskey (junior, Grand Junction, CO) scored the first goal in the sixth minute and assisted on the other two.
Women’s Volleyball (18-7, 10-2 PL)
Lost Friday night to American, 25-20, 25-14, 25-23, to end their six game win streak.
Beat Loyola Sunday, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.
Notable Performance: Olivia Rozmus (junior, Chicago, IL) had a career best 12 kills on Friday, followed by a new career best 14 kills on Sunday.
