Notre Dame Overpowers Navy, 44-22
Notre Dame overpowered Navy, 44-22, on Saturday night in San Diego. It was the 92nd consecutive meeting of the schools on the gridiron. With the loss Navy falls to 2-6, while the Irish improved to 8-0 for the season.
After a frankly bad first half performance by the Mids, Navy faced a 27-0 deficit going into halftime. However, the Midshipmen stormed back into the game in the second half, putting the lead within reasonable reach a number of times before the Irish regained control.
Malcolm Perry had a strong second half at slotback and the Navy defense played hard all game long, making Notre Dame work for every yard on the ground. Bottom line: Navy played hard. Mids fans should be proud.
