Nationals to open series against Pirates following blowout win; lineup and updates: 8/19/2019

The Washington Nationals are opening a four-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at PNC Park. After a blowout win against the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday, the Nationals (67-56) hope to carry that momentum into this NL Central road trip. Joe Ross (3-3, 5.91 ER) is set to duel Trevor Williams (5-5, 5.2.5 ERA). Ross looks to earn his fourth consecutive winning start.

The Nationals have made some roster moves before tonight’s game. To note, Brian Dozier has been placed on paternity leave, and Adrian Sanchez has been called up from Double-A Harrisburg. Max Scherzer is expected to return and start on Thursday for the series finale, and Ryan Zimmerman is set to rehab in Single-A Potomac.
