Nationals beat Braves 14-4: Recap 5/29/19

The Washington Nationals beat the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday evening at SunTrust Park in regular season action. The Nats record currently stands at 24-32. The Braves drop to 30-26.

Anibal Sanchez pitched a very strong six innings for Washington. Sanchez allowed one hit and seven strikeouts while pitching. Kyle McGowin allowed four hits and one strikeout in relief for Washington.

In the top of the first inning , second baseman Howie Kendrick hit sacrifice fly to right, Eaton scored, Anthony Rendon to third. Also, in the first inning, Matt Adams singled to center, Rendon scored, Soto to second. Moreover, in the first inning, catcher Kurt Suzuki singled to center, Soto scored, Adams to third. In addition, in the first inning, Victor Robles singled to center, Adams scored, Suzuki to second.

At the top of the second inning, Rendon tripled to deep center, Trea Turner scored and Eaton scored. As well, in the top of the second inning, Juan Soto singled to center, Rendon scored. Finally, in the top of the second, Robles grounded into fielder’s choice to shortstop, Soto scored, Adams out at second, Kendrick to third.

Additionally, at the top of the fourth inning, Juan Soto homered to left center (396 feet).

In the top of the fifth inning, Kendrick doubled to deep right center, Soto scored, Turner and Eaton scored. As well, in the top of the fifth inning, Matt Adams homered to right (385 feet), Kendrick scored.

With a win over the Braves, the Nationals head to Cincinnati for a three game series with the Reds starting Friday night at 7:05pm at Great American Ball Park.
