Washington Capitals beat the New York Islanders March 1, 2019

The Capitals beat the Islanders by a score of 3:1 on Friday. Statistically, Braden Hotlby had 20 saves, but that was not enough as the Islanders scored in the first period.

The Washington Capitals are 37-21-7 and currently in second place in the Metropolitan division. On the other hand, the Islanders are in the Metropolitan division and are 37-20-7.

In the first period, Tom Kuhnhacki of the Islanders scored his 4th goal of the season at 2 minutes and 43 seconds. In the third period, forward Jakub Vrana scored his 19th goal of the season assisted by Nicklas Backstrom(46th assist of the season) and Michal Kempny (15th goal of the season) at 3 minutes and 26 seconds in the third period. Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored his 45th goal of the season at 4 minutes and 34 seconds in the period. Lastly, T.J. Oshie of the Capitals scored his 21st goal of the season which was unassisted at 18 minutes and 32 seconds.

With the win over the Islanders, Capitals head to New York City to play the Rangers Sunday afternoon at Maddison Square Garden.
