Washington Capitals Beat New York Rangers 4-3 in Overtime
The Washington Capitals have defeated the New York Rangers 4-3 in overtime in a great game in DC tonight. Alex Ovechkin did Ovechkin things tonight scoring two goals on the power play.
The Capitals dominated the Rangers tonight out shooting the Rangers 38-32 and out hitting them 23-14. Braden Holtby made a lot of great saves stopping 29 shots and came up big when his team needed him the most.
John Carlson scored his third goal of the year to start the Capitals scoring; and Ovechkin then followed up scoring two goals on the power play.
With a 3-2 lead going into the third period the Rangers eventually tied the game with a goal from Chris Kreider to tie the game to force overtime.
Thankfully Evgeny Kuznetsov short the puck into all-star goalie Henrik Lundqvest and forced a rebound that went right to Matt Niskanen stick for Niskanen’s first goal of the year, and a game winner to make things better!
Tonight’s performance was a great win overall against a young New York Rangers team that has a lot of speed. Capitals play next Friday night against the Florida Panthers
