Delmarva Shorebirds Weekly Recap (Since Last Friday)

The Delmarva Shorebirds put together one of their better stretches of the second half over the past week, finishing their road series against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers before returning home to face the Charleston RiverDogs. Friday, July 3
Delmarva carried its recent offensive momentum into Friday night’s game against Charleston as the series continued. Several Orioles prospects remained among the club’s hottest hitters entering the holiday weekend.
Players Who Stood Out
Miguel Rodríguez
The young catcher continued to swing one of the hottest bats on the roster, delivering key extra-base hits during the week and providing steady defense behind the plate. Rodríguez has steadily become one of Delmarva’s most dependable offensive contributors.
Raylin Ramos
Ramos continued flashing his power potential, adding another home run while producing timely offense throughout the week. His ability to drive the baseball has been an encouraging development for the Orioles organization.
DJ Layton
Layton remained an important catalyst near the top of the lineup, contributing quality at-bats and helping generate offense during Delmarva’s back-to-back wins in Fayetteville.
Week at a Glance
- Record: 4-3
- Won the final two games at Fayetteville.
- Returned home and split the opening games against Charleston.
- Offensive production improved noticeably after a slow start to the week.
- Miguel Rodríguez, Raylin Ramos and DJ Layton continued leading the offense.
- The Shorebirds showed improved confidence entering the second half of the Carolina League season.
MSB Take
This was one of Delmarva’s most encouraging weeks in quite some time. Instead of allowing another difficult road trip to snowball, the Shorebirds responded with consecutive victories in Fayetteville before carrying that momentum back to Salisbury. The offense showed much better balance, and several of the Orioles’ young prospects continue making noticeable progress.
Development remains the primary goal at the Single-A level, and weeks like this are exactly what Baltimore wants to see. If Miguel Rodríguez, Raylin Ramos and DJ Layton continue producing while the pitching staff builds consistency, the Shorebirds could become a much tougher opponent throughout the second half of the Carolina League season.
