Sam Brown’s ninth-inning homer gave the Harrisburg Senators a 3-2 baseball win over the Baysox after the Senators trailed 2-0 with one out in the ninth on Aug. 6, 2026, in Bowie, Md. Brown hit his fifth homer of the season to put Harrisburg ahead.
Luke Young earned the win and improved to 3-0 after retiring the side in order in the ninth inning. The Harrisburg Senators overcame a scoreless start from Baysox pitcher Joseph Dzierwa and a two-run sixth-inning deficit.
Josh Hartle Makes Harrisburg Debut
Josh Hartle retired the first 13 Chesapeake hitters he faced in his Harrisburg debut. He allowed back-to-back singles in the fifth inning but escaped the threat with two strikeouts. Hartle allowed one run in 5.1 innings on three hits, no walks and seven strikeouts.
Joseph Dzierwa pitched six scoreless innings for the Baysox, allowing four hits, no walks and striking out nine.
Baysox Take a Sixth-Inning Lead
The Harrisburg Senators had runners on second and third with no outs in the second inning but did not score, as Dzierwa kept Harrisburg off the scoreboard through six innings. Hartle left in the sixth inning with a runner on first and one out. Robert Cranz entered and recorded a fielder’s-choice groundout, then issued a walk and threw a wild pitch to put runners on second and third with two outs.
Anderson De Los Santos followed with a groundball single that scored two runs and gave the Baysox a 2-0 lead. Holden Powell worked a scoreless seventh inning for Harrisburg despite allowing a hit, a walk and a wild pitch, while Young worked a scoreless eighth inning and struck out two.
Sam Brown Delivers in the Ninth
Elijah Green hit a one-out double in the ninth inning, marking the Harrisburg Senators’ first hit since Kervin Pichardo’s one-out double in the fourth inning. Pichardo then drew a walk to put the tying runs on base with one out.
Brown fell behind Baysox right-hander Ryan Long 0-2 before hitting a high fastball pitch out to right field for the decisive three-run homer.
The Harrisburg Senators are scheduled to play again Friday at 7:05 p.m. Yoel Tejeda Jr., listed at 0-1, is scheduled to start for Harrisburg.
