Ravens Wide Receiver Rashod Bateman Arrested on Family Violence Charges

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver, Rashod Bateman, was reportedly arrested in his home state of Georgia back in June after allegedly smashing the windows to a vehicle owned by the mother of Bateman’s child, while the child was inside the vehicle.

The alleged accident took place on June 6th, and the victim who has not been named, reported told police that Bateman used an object to smash the windows while his three-month old child was inside the vehicle. The shattered glass reportedly caused small lacerations and contusions to the alleged victims face. Bateman, who turned himself in the day of the alleged incident to the Walton County sheriffs’s office, faces charges of battery-family violence, reckless conduct, and first degree criminal damage to property. Bateman has since been ordered by the court to complete a training class aimed to prevent violent contact.

The Ravens released a statement on Friday following the news of the arrest stating “We are aware of the situation involving Rashod and have been in direct communication with him. We have notified the league office and have been cooperating throughout the process. As this is a pending legal matter, we will not have further comment.”

Bateman’s legal team also released a statement saying “It is unfortunate that a personal family situation has been taken completely out of context for sensational reasons. We will let the process play out and the fact will come out at that time.”

It is unclear how the situation escalated, or how long the Ravens have been aware of the incident. The NFL said they are reviewing the matter, but it is unknown at this time what kind of fine or suspension Bateman could be facing as we are just under one month away from the start of the 2026 regular season.

Bateman, who signed a three-year $36.75 million dollar extension in 2025, has been present for the entirety of Ravens training camp which began on July 29th, and has impressed as he looks to improve on his poor 2025 season.

Should Bateman miss any time, quarterback Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense will look to lean heavily on wide receiver Zay Flowers, who just signed a $140 million dollar extension this month, as well as third year receiver Devontez Walker, and rookie standout Jakobi Lane.
