Ravens report card: 9/15/2019

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Arizona Cardinals 23 to 17 in their home opener. I apologize for missing the report card last week, it was written and my computer shut down. Lets be honest, the entire Ravens got an A+ last week.

Quarterback: Lamar Jackson was once again mistake free against the Cardinals. Jackson completed 24 out of 37 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson also used his legs a lot more in this game adding 120 rushing yards on 16 carries. Jackson has this offense rolling. Grade A

Running backs: Mark Ingram saw the majority of the carries for the Ravens. Gus Edwards and Justice Hill did not see much action. Ingram had 49 rushing yards on 13 carries. The Ravens should have used this unit a little more. Grade B

Receivers: Rookie wide receiver Hollywood Brown continues to impress. Brown had eight receptions for 86 yards, including a clutch catch to essentially end the game. Tight End Mark Andrews also had eight catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. Andrews is going to be a problem for defense for years to come. Hayden Hurst also added a touchdown reception. This unit is going to be a strength of the Ravens. Grade A

Offensive Line: This unit kept former Raven Terrell Suggs without a sack which is an accomplishment. This unit has been strong but did allow two sacks. On a couple third and fourth down attempts this unit failed to get a push. Grade B

Overall Offense: This unit played solid but could have added a touchdown or two and made more fourth down conversions. Grade B

Defensive line: This unit was dominate, three sacks of Kyler Murray and only allowing 20 rushing yards all game. Grade A

Linebackers: Matthew Judon had one of the sacks and is a leader on defense. The Ravens linebackers were solid though out the game. Grade B+

Secondary: This unit struggled the most, The Ravens allowed way too many passing yards. At some points Larry Fitzgerald went completely uncovered and had easy catches. This unit allowed 349 passing yards, too many to give up against a rookie QB. Grade C

Overall Defense: This unit at the end of the game only allowed 17 points. This is still a strength of the Ravens. Grade A

Special Teams: Justin Tucker was perfect on kicks, Sam Koch was solid on punts. This unit is a constant for the Ravens. Grade A

Coaching staff: The Ravens did not have a let down after blowing out the Miami Dolphins last week. Great job by the coaching staff to lead in the home opener. Grade A
