Ravens report card: 10/1/2018

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 26 to 14. The Ravens got near perfect play by Joe Flacco and the defense shut out the Steelers in the second half.

Quarterback: Joe Flacco was nearly perfect all game. Flacco completed 28 out of 42 passes for 363 yards and two touchdowns. Flacco in the first half had a nearly perfect quarterback rating. Lamar Jackson also saw a lot of snaps and almost all of them were positive plays. Grade A++++++

Runningbacks: Alex Collins fumbled on the one yard line and it helped put the Steelers back in the game. Collins also had a touchdown reception. Buck Allen had some great tough runs. The Ravens combined for 96 yards on the ground. Overall one bad play by the running backs but it was huge. Grade C

Receivers: Every tight end and every wide receiver on the roster caught a pass. John Brown was the star of the night, with three receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown. Brown was beating the defense on nearly every play. Willie Snead had six receptions for 56 yards most of them came in key moments. Maxx Williams had a great game with five receptions for 51 yards and a lot of yards after the catch. Chris Moore had a good 19 yard reception. This unit played great. Grade A

Offensive line: Joe Flacco was only sacked one time but once again some running lanes were small. Still this offensive line played great on the road against a team that has a good defensive line. Grade A

Overall Offense: The Ravens could have scored a lot more touchdowns. Credit the Ravens defense for slowing the Ravens down. This offense is good, Flacco and Jackson have been playing well together. Grade A

Defensive line: The Ravens only allowed 19 rushing yards all game. The Ravens defensive line needs more pressure on the quarterback but overall this was a great game. Grade B

Linebackers: The linebackers really had trouble defending the Steelers tight ends over the middle. CJ Mosley lead the Ravens in tackles with eight on his first game back. Tim Williams had the Ravens only sack. Grade B

Secondary: The Ravens secondary held up well against a very strong receiving core. Eric Weddle had a good game but it was Tony Jefferson that really stood out. Jefferson early in the game had a forced fumble and recovery on a very athletic play. Marlon Humphrey was beat a few times but had good coverage for the most part. Brandon Carr had some fantastic pass deflections. Grade B

Overall Defense: The Ravens defense shut the Steelers out in the second half while the Ravens offense had long drive. The Ravens need to tighten up early in the game. Grade B

Special Teams: Justin Tucker was perfect on kicks and Sam Koch did his thing punting bombs. Tim White has done a good job handling the football and not making mistakes. Grade A

Coaching Staff: John Harbaugh had his team ready to go and out coaching Mike Tomlin. Grade A

Final Thoughts: This was a great signature win for the Ravens on the road in prime time against their greatest rival.
