Orioles decline Lyles option, claim Cameron

The Baltimore Orioles have declined starting pitcher Jordan Lyles option, and chose the $1 million buy out option. Lyles is now a free agent, the Orioles also claimed outfielder Daz Cameron off waivers from the Detroit Tigers.

Lyles had a solid season for the Orioles, he was brought in to “eat innings” and for the most part he did that. Lyles had a 4.42 era for the Orioles in 2022, he pitched 169 innings and had a 12-11 record. Solid numbers for Lyles that was definitely helped out by the new dimensions at Camden Yards.

The Orioles may still be interested in bringing back Lyles at a more team friendly deal.

Cameron has a career .201 average with five home runs over the course of parts of three seasons. Cameron has seen just a bit of action in those three seasons and is only 25 years old. Cameron will likely be organizational depth.
