Northeast Eagles Continued Building Momentum During Strong 2026 Lacrosse Season
The 2026 boys lacrosse season brought major progress for Northeast High School in Pasadena.

The Eagles battled through a difficult Anne Arundel County schedule, earned several impressive victories and continued establishing themselves as a competitive Class 2A public-school program. Northeast finished the season with an 8-5 overall record and placed second in region play, another sign that the Pasadena program continues trending upward.
A fast-paced offense, improved defensive structure and experienced leadership helped the Eagles compete against several of the county’s strongest programs throughout the spring.
Northeast opened the season with one of the area’s most dominant performances.
The Eagles crushed Atholton 19-4 behind relentless offensive pressure and transition scoring. Ball movement looked sharp immediately. Midfielders attacked downhill consistently while the defense created extra possessions with aggressive stick work. That opener set the tone for a confident start to the season.
The momentum continued only days later.
Northeast defeated Arundel 11-4 in another statement victory that showed how dangerous the Eagles could become when possessions stayed organized. Defensive communication improved significantly during that game and the Eagles controlled tempo for most of the afternoon.
Several players emerged as major contributors throughout the season.
Senior attacker Jake Conley became one of the offensive leaders for Northeast. Conley consistently pressured defenses around the crease and delivered timely goals during key stretches of games. Quick hands and strong vision helped the Eagles generate efficient offense throughout the spring.
Midfielder Tyler Schaefer brought toughness and versatility to the lineup. Schaefer excelled between the restraining lines, won ground balls and created transition opportunities regularly. Several Northeast scoring runs started because of his ability to push pace after turnovers.
Junior attackman Mason Dorsey also developed into a reliable scoring option. Dorsey stretched defenses with strong outside shooting and helped the Eagles maintain offensive balance. Opponents struggled to focus on one offensive player because Northeast consistently generated production from multiple spots.
The Eagles continued rolling during a 12-2 victory against Southern.
Northeast dominated possession throughout the contest and overwhelmed Southern with offensive depth. Faceoff wins and transition opportunities allowed the Eagles to dictate pace from the opening whistle.
One of the season’s biggest wins came against Perryville.
The Eagles exploded offensively during a 16-8 victory that highlighted the roster’s speed and athleticism. Northeast attacked aggressively in transition and consistently capitalized on unsettled situations. Schaefer controlled possessions in the midfield while Conley and Dorsey finished scoring chances near the cage.
The defense also played a major role in Northeast’s success throughout 2026.
Defenseman Ryan Keller anchored the defensive unit and regularly handled difficult matchups against top attackers. Keller brought physical play, strong communication and leadership to the back end of the field.
Goalkeeper Ethan Greene delivered several key performances during the spring as well. Greene helped stabilize the defense with important saves during momentum swings and consistently handled heavy pressure against top county offenses.
The Eagles proved capable of winning games in multiple ways.
Northeast could overwhelm opponents offensively, but the team also showed the ability to grind out tougher defensive battles. A 12-6 victory against North County late in the season reflected that growth. The Eagles controlled possessions, played disciplined defense and closed the game strong in the fourth quarter.
The season also included difficult tests against elite Anne Arundel County competition.
South River defeated Northeast 14-2 during one of the toughest matchups of the year. Sherwood also earned a 13-6 victory against the Eagles. Those losses exposed areas still requiring improvement, particularly against deeper programs with elite transition speed and defensive pressure.
Still, Northeast responded well after adversity throughout the season.
That resilience became one of the biggest strengths of the team.
Head coach Walt Blahut continued building structure and consistency inside the program. Northeast has steadily improved over recent seasons and the Eagles again showed they can compete with strong public-school programs across Maryland. Previous Northeast teams also found success under Blahut, including a 10-win campaign several seasons ago.
The Eagles played with confidence throughout much of the spring.
Offensive spacing looked improved. Transition opportunities became a major weapon. Defensive rotations tightened as the season progressed. Younger players also gained valuable varsity experience that should help the program moving forward.
Anne Arundel County remains one of Maryland’s deepest lacrosse regions.
Programs such as Severna Park, Chesapeake, South River and Broadneck consistently challenge opponents physically and mentally every week. Northeast continued proving it belongs in competitive conversations inside the county.
The future also looks promising for the Eagles.
Returning talent, growing confidence and continued player development should help Northeast remain competitive next season. Several underclassmen gained important varsity minutes while experienced leaders helped establish stronger expectations throughout the roster.
The 2026 season may not have ended with a championship run, but Northeast clearly took another important step forward.
The Eagles played fast, competed hard and continued building a respected lacrosse culture in Pasadena.
