Norfolk Tides Fall 6-3 to Syracuse Mets Despite Nestor German’s Eight Strikeouts

The Norfolk Tides fell 6-3 to the Syracuse Mets on June 17 at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse, New York, despite Nestor German’s strong pitching performance. German worked 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits, including one home run, with no walks and eight strikeouts.

Norfolk entered the game with a 26-44 record, while Syracuse entered at 35-35. The game opened the final series of the First Half for the Norfolk Tides.

Norfolk Tides Score Three Runs on Two Home Runs

Christian Encarnacion-Strand gave the Norfolk Tides an early lead with a two-run home run in the first inning. It was his 16th home run of the season.

Michael Siani added a home run in the fifth inning, marking his first home run for the Norfolk Tides. The two homers accounted for all three of Norfolk’s runs.

Syracuse Mets Rally in Eighth Inning

German allowed a home run to the final batter he faced, but the Norfolk Tides still held a 3-2 lead at that point. The Syracuse Mets then scored four runs in the eighth inning to take control and complete the 6-3 victory.

The result marked Norfolk’s 11th loss in its previous 16 games.
