Arthur W. Perdue Stadium- Home of the Delmarva Shorebirds

The 2019 season is less than a month away, and the Delmarva Shorebirds have announced their new coaching staff.

Kyle Moore will be the new skipper for the Shorebirds. Moore was the manager for Low-A Aberdeen last season, leading the IronBirds to a 38-37 record. Moore, who is going into his tenth season in the Orioles organization, will take the place of Buck Britton, who was promoted to manage the Double-A Bowie Baysox. Moore was Delmarva’s Hitting Coach in 2016, a player/coach in 2015, and a Strength and Conditioning Coach in 2012, so his previous experience will aid him with adjusting to the club and returning to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Other notable positions he has filled are player/coach for Single-A Fredrick in 2013, player/coach for Double-A Bowie in 2014, and Fredrick’s Hitting Coach in 2017.

Justin Ramsey will be the team’s new Pitching Coach for the upcoming season. Ramsey spent the last four seasons as a coach for Nova Southeastern University (FL). From 2010-2014, Ramsey served as a coach at Long Beach State (CA), and coached at Sacramento City College (CA) from 2005-2010.

Pat Leyland, who served as a player/coach with the Bowie Baysox last season, will be entering the 2019 season as a Field and Development Coach for the Shorebirds. Leyland played six seasons of minor league ball in the Detroit Tigers (2010-2014) and Seattle Mariners (2015) organizations. He was drafted in the 8th round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft by Detroit.

He last coached for the Houston Astros Double-A affiliate, the Corpus Christi Hooks in 2016.
