Los Angeles FC enter the match at 10-7-5 with 35 points and sit third in the Western Conference. Los Angeles FC are winless in their last four matches after a 1-1 draw with the Portland Timbers on August 22.

D.C. United generated a season-high nine corner kicks in the loss to Charlotte FC. Head coach René Weiler’s team is 3-4-3 at Audi Field in 2026 and 4-2-2 when scoring the opening goal. Keisuke Kurokawa has started all 21 matches and leads the club with 48 corner kicks, while Sean Johnson has also started every match and has recorded 76 saves and four shutouts.

Los Angeles FC Bring Multiple Attacking Threats

Denis Bouanga leads Los Angeles FC with 11 goals and seven assists in 2026. He scored the equalizer in the 79th minute against the Portland Timbers, a match in which Los Angeles FC generated a season-high 33 shots, including 12 from Bouanga.

Series History and Match Details

This will be the first meeting between D.C. United and Los Angeles FC since August 16, 2022, and only the second meeting between the clubs at Audi Field. D.C. United’s all-time regular-season record against Los Angeles FC is 0-2-1, with one goal scored and six conceded. Los Angeles FC won the only previous meeting in Washington, 4-0, on April 6, 2019.

D.C. United lost the most recent meeting, 1-0, at Los Angeles FC on August 16, 2022. Kwadwo Opoku scored the only goal in the 62nd minute after receiving a pass from Cristian Arango, while Maxime Crépeau made three saves for the shutout. Jackson Hopkins started that match for D.C. United, and Nathan Ordaz previously made nine appearances and scored twice for Los Angeles FC earlier in 2026.

The match will be available on Apple TV through MLS Season Pass. Radio coverage will be available on the iHeartRadio App and Freedom 104.7 FM, with Dave Johnson and Bruce Murray scheduled to call the broadcast.

Maryland Sports Blog Take

D.C. United’s home record and performance after scoring first will be important factors in the matchup. Munteanu’s six goals give D.C. United a proven scoring option, but Los Angeles FC’s production from Bouanga, Son Heung-Min and Martinez will test Johnson and the D.C. United defense.

The recent series history favors Los Angeles FC, although the clubs have not met since 2022. Both teams enter after winless stretches, and the opening goal could carry added significance given their contrasting records when scoring or conceding first.
