Capitals take a quick trip to New York to face the Islanders on this Monday night.
The Washington Capitals are taking a quick trip to New York on this Monday night. They are facing the Islanders which is a pretty even matchup on both sides. The Capitals have lost three of the last five games they’ve played. The Islanders have lost four of their last five.
The Capitals are once again mixing up the lines and moving Tom Wilson and Nicklas Backstrom to the bottom six in order to slowly integrate them into the lineup. Both players are working their way back into the lineup, after being out for long periods of time with injuries. Dylan Strome is also back in the lineup after being a healthy scratch in the previous game. This is indicating that Lars Eller will be a healthy scratch.
Darcy Kuemper was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, which is indicating he will be the starter tonight. He boasts a 2.54 goals against average, and a save percentage of .918 which is excellent. On the other side, the Islander’s goaltenders are about equal stat wise.
