Capitals face the Red Wings as Ovi’s chase for 802 continues

The Washington Capitals are facing the Detroit Red Wings, on the last day of the 3 game homestand. Alex Ovechkin is still hunting for his next two goals which would put him at #2 all time, above Gordie Howe. The Capitals have been getting a lot of goals from unexpected players. Trevor Vans Riemsdyk has scored 3 goals in 4 games. The goaltending from Charlie Lindgren has also been phenomenal and he has looked virtually unstoppable the past few weeks while Darcy Kuemper recovered from an injury. While the Capitals have been battling the injury bug, everyone seems to be contributing and gelling on all cylinders. This game would be really phenomenal for Ovi to pass Howe because he played for the Red Wings, so to do it against his old team would be cool.
