Pheonix Copley will get his first start in two weeks. Last time the Caps played the Jets, it was Pheonix between the pipes as well. Copley fared well against the Jets in that first meeting back in November, saving 21 of 23 shots in a 3-1 loss.

When taking a look at the remaining schedule for the Washington Capitals, they have the NHL’s most challenging schedule with 10 of the final 14 games against teams battling for postseason position. The Jets are going to be a good test after five of Washington’s past six games were against teams out of playoff position. With that said it was time to get Braden Holtby some rest after just tying the Caps franchise record of 35 shut outs set by Olie Kolzig.

Game Notes: Alex Ovechkin still sits one point shy of 1,200. The next one will be a big milestone for the Caps forward. Andre Burakovsky and Travis Boyd come into tonight’s game with three game point streaks. Burky has goals in three straight, while Boyd has assists in three straight games.

The Jets are coming off an impressive 8-1 beat down of the hottest team in the NHL, the Carolina Hurricanes.
