Ike Irish Heats Up as Frederick Keys Stay Contenders in SAL
Frederick Keys Weekly Recap (Since Last Friday)

The Frederick Keys continued to show why they have been one of the biggest success stories in the Orioles’ farm system, playing another competitive week that included a dramatic extra-inning road win before returning home for a challenging series against the defending South Atlantic League champion Brooklyn Cyclones. Frederick remained one of the top clubs in the South Atlantic League with a 46-29 overall record entering Friday’s action.
Series Finale at Wilmington (June 26-28)
Friday, June 26
Wilmington 8, Frederick 6
The Keys built offense early but could not hold a late lead. Wilmington scored twice in the eighth inning to erase Frederick’s advantage and hand the Keys their second straight defeat. Despite the loss, the offense continued to produce, but timely bullpen struggles proved costly.
Saturday, June 27
Frederick 4, Wilmington 3 (12 innings)
Frederick responded with one of its grittiest victories of the season.
The Keys and Blue Rocks battled into the 12th inning before Frederick finally broke through for the winning run. The bullpen was outstanding, keeping Wilmington off the scoreboard during the late innings while the offense finally capitalized in extras to earn an important road victory and guarantee at least a split opportunity entering Sunday.
Sunday, June 28
Wilmington 4, Frederick 2
The Blue Rocks captured the series finale, limiting the Keys offense to two runs. Frederick had opportunities but couldn’t deliver the timely hit needed to overcome Wilmington’s pitching. Even with the loss, the Keys finished another competitive road series before returning home.
Home Series vs. Brooklyn Cyclones
Tuesday, June 30
Brooklyn 5, Frederick 3
Brooklyn spoiled Frederick’s return home by pulling away late. The Keys stayed within striking distance throughout the evening but couldn’t overcome the Cyclones’ pitching staff during the final innings.
Wednesday, July 1
Frederick bounced back with a much stronger all-around performance. The offense produced timely extra-base hits, while the pitching staff kept Brooklyn from putting together any sustained rallies. Colin Tuft delivered one of the night’s key offensive plays with an RBI double as the Keys evened the series.
Thursday, July 2
The Keys continued building momentum behind one of the organization’s hottest prospects.
Ike Irish blasted his 11th home run of the season, continuing an outstanding offensive campaign. Irish has developed into one of the Orioles’ most dangerous High-A hitters, combining power with consistent run production.
Friday, July 3
Frederick 9, Brooklyn 4
Frederick turned in one of its best offensive performances of the week.
Ike Irish homered twice to give him 12 home runs on the season, while Wehiwa Aloy collected three hits and drove in three runs. The Keys pounded out timely hits throughout the lineup, and the pitching staff settled in after a shaky start to secure an impressive victory over one of the league’s top clubs.
Players Who Stood Out
Ike Irish
Irish continues to strengthen his case as one of Baltimore’s fastest-rising position prospects.
Highlights this week included:
- Three home runs over the final two games.
- 12 home runs on the season after Friday.
- Continued production in the middle of Frederick’s lineup.
Wehiwa Aloy
Aloy remained one of Frederick’s most consistent offensive weapons.
The Orioles prospect delivered several clutch hits during the week, including a three-hit, three-RBI performance Friday while continuing to play excellent defense.
Colin Tuft
Tuft continued contributing offensively with timely doubles and quality at-bats, helping stabilize the middle of Frederick’s lineup during a difficult stretch against quality competition.
Week at a Glance
- Games: 7
- Record: 3-4 (through Friday’s completed game)
- Extra-inning road victory at Wilmington.
- Defeated defending South Atlantic League champion Brooklyn in convincing fashion Friday.
- Ike Irish caught fire with multiple home runs.
- Wehiwa Aloy remained one of the club’s most productive hitters.
- Frederick stayed near the top of the South Atlantic League standings with a 46-29 record entering the weekend.
MSB Take
Even with a slightly losing week, there is little reason for concern. The Keys continue to play winning baseball against quality opponents while developing some of the Orioles’ best young talent. Ike Irish looks like one of the breakout stars of Baltimore’s 2026 farm system, and Wehiwa Aloy continues to show why scouts are excited about his all-around game.
The biggest positive may be Frederick’s resilience. After dropping a tough road series finale and the opener against Brooklyn, the Keys answered with quality baseball and an offensive explosion on Friday. If Irish, Aloy and the pitching staff continue this pace, Frederick should remain one of the favorites to make a deep South Atlantic League playoff run while sending several players toward Chesapeake before the season is over.
