Orioles 6, White Sox 1: Kremer Returns Strong as Orioles Avoid the Sweep

The Orioles desperately needed a clean, complete game, and they got exactly that Wednesday afternoon at Camden Yards.
After dropping the first two games of the series, Baltimore avoided the sweep with a 6-1 victory over the White Sox behind an excellent return from Dean Kremer, timely hitting, and another strong performance from the bullpen.
Kremer delivers exactly what Baltimore needed
Making his first start after returning from the injured list, Dean Kremer looked sharp from the beginning despite surrendering a leadoff home run to Sam Antonacci in the first inning.
Instead of unraveling, Kremer settled in immediately. The right-hander retired hitters efficiently, mixed his pitches well, and kept Chicago from building on its early lead.
Final line:
- 6.0 innings
- 4 hits
- 1 earned run
- 1 walk
- 4 strikeouts
More importantly, Kremer gave Baltimore six quality innings and earned his first win of the season while lowering his ERA to 3.18.
Orioles finally solve Noah Schultz
Chicago left-hander Noah Schultz was dominant early.
The highly regarded rookie carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning while piling up strikeouts, but Baltimore remained patient and forced his pitch count higher with several walks.
Everything changed in the fifth.
Tyler O’Neill broke the ice with a game-tying solo homer before the Orioles kept the pressure on. Adley Rutschman delivered an RBI hit, Taylor Ward added another run-scoring knock, and Baltimore also took advantage of a wild pitch during the four-run inning that completely flipped the game.
Taveras adds insurance
Baltimore never let Chicago back into the game.
Leody Taveras continued his strong play by blasting a solo home run later in the contest. The veteran center fielder also stole a base and played excellent defense, giving the Orioles another spark near the bottom of the lineup.
Blaze Alexander chipped in with two hits, including an RBI triple, as several role players contributed throughout the afternoon.
Bullpen slams the door
Once Kremer exited, the Orioles bullpen made sure there would be no late drama.
Tyler Wells and Andrew Kittredge combined for three scoreless innings, allowing Baltimore to cruise home with one of its cleaner victories in recent weeks. Chicago managed only four hits all afternoon after Antonacci’s first-inning homer.

MSB Take
The Orioles didn’t just need a win—they needed someone to stop the bleeding after four straight losses.
Dean Kremer answered that call. His return gives Baltimore another experienced arm in a rotation that has dealt with injuries throughout the season, and Wednesday’s outing showed he can still provide quality starts.
The offense also deserves credit for staying patient against Schultz. Rather than pressing after four hitless innings, Baltimore waited for mistakes, worked counts, and exploded when the opportunity arrived.
Now the challenge becomes building momentum. One win doesn’t erase a rough homestand, but if Kremer can continue pitching like this and veterans such as Tyler O’Neill and Leody Taveras continue producing, the Orioles have a chance to get back on track as they head into their next series.
