Towson Women’s Soccer Releases 2026 Schedule: Tigers Eye Return to CAA Tournament

The road back to the Coastal Athletic Association Tournament is officially mapped out.
Towson University announced its 2026 women’s soccer schedule this week, unveiling an 18-match regular-season slate that includes a challenging non-conference schedule, seven home matches at Tiger Field and a conference schedule designed to give the Tigers every opportunity to return to postseason play after narrowly missing the 2025 CAA Tournament on a tiebreaker.
For head coach Richard Costanzo, the schedule represents another step in continuing to build one of the CAA’s improving programs.
A Challenging Non-Conference Schedule
Towson opens exhibition play with home matches against Montgomery College and Howard before beginning the regular season on Aug. 16 at Mount St. Mary’s.
The Tigers’ non-conference schedule features a balanced mix of regional rivals and strong academic institutions.
2026 Non-Conference Schedule
- Aug. 16 – at Mount St. Mary’s
- Aug. 20 – at St. John’s
- Aug. 23 – vs. George Washington
- Aug. 27 – at Delaware
- Sept. 3 – at UMBC
- Sept. 6 – vs. Bucknell
- Sept. 10 – vs. Navy
- Sept. 13 – vs. Penn
Several of those games will be important measuring sticks.
The annual matchup against UMBC is always one of the premier local rivalries, while contests against Delaware, Navy and Penn provide quality opponents capable of preparing Towson for the grind of CAA competition.
Playing four true road contests before conference play should also help the Tigers become battle-tested before league action begins.
CAA Play Opens on the Road
Towson begins conference play Sept. 20 with a difficult road trip to Hofstra before remaining away from home for matches against William & Mary and Hampton.
That opening stretch may determine the direction of the season.
Picking up points away from Tiger Field early could significantly improve Towson’s postseason chances before the schedule shifts heavily in its favor.
Conference schedule:
- Sept. 20 – at Hofstra
- Sept. 24 – at William & Mary
- Sept. 27 – at Hampton
- Oct. 4 – vs. Stony Brook
- Oct. 8 – vs. UNCW
- Oct. 11 – vs. Charleston
- Oct. 17 – vs. Northeastern
- Oct. 25 – at Monmouth
- Nov. 1 – vs. Drexel
Home Schedule Could Shape the Season
One of the biggest advantages for Towson comes late in the schedule.
After opening league play with three consecutive road matches, the Tigers will play five of their final six conference contests at Tiger Field.
That includes key home games against:
- Stony Brook
- 2025 CAA South Division champion UNCW
- Charleston
- Northeastern
- Drexel
If Towson is in postseason contention entering October, that home-heavy finish could become a major advantage.
Biggest Matches to Watch
Sept. 3 — at UMBC
One of Maryland’s top collegiate soccer rivalries returns.
The short trip across Baltimore County always produces an energetic atmosphere, and defeating the Retrievers would provide momentum entering the final portion of non-conference play.
Sept. 20 — at Hofstra
Conference openers are always significant.
Starting league play with a victory would immediately place Towson among the early contenders in the CAA standings.
Oct. 8 — vs. UNCW
The Seahawks captured the CAA South Division championship last season and will likely enter 2026 among the conference favorites.
This could become one of Towson’s signature home matches.
Nov. 1 — vs. Drexel
The regular-season finale may have postseason implications.
With the expanded conference race expected to be tightly contested once again, every point in late October and early November could determine CAA Tournament qualification.
Players to Watch
Although Towson’s roster continues to evolve entering preseason camp, several returning players are expected to lead the Tigers in 2026 after gaining valuable experience last fall. The coaching staff also welcomes one of its strongest recruiting classes in recent years, hoping to add more scoring punch while improving defensive depth.
Replacing key production from 2025 while continuing the program’s upward trajectory will be one of the biggest storylines throughout August camp. The Tigers have emphasized athleticism, defensive organization and attacking depth during the offseason, all areas that could help them close the narrow gap that kept them out of the conference tournament a year ago.
What Success Looks Like
The Tigers enter 2026 with unfinished business.
Missing the CAA Tournament on a tiebreaker left little doubt that the program is close to taking another step forward. This schedule provides opportunities for quality non-conference victories while giving Towson a favorable home stretch during league play.
If the Tigers can survive the demanding opening month and capitalize on their five home conference matches in October, a return to the CAA Tournament is a realistic expectation.
MSB Analysis
Towson’s 2026 schedule feels well-balanced.
The non-conference slate features enough quality opponents to prepare the Tigers without being overwhelming, and finishing the conference season with five of six games at Tiger Field could prove to be one of the biggest scheduling advantages in the CAA.
The biggest challenge will be navigating the three-match road swing to open conference play. If Towson can earn four to six points during that stretch, the Tigers should be in excellent position entering October.
After narrowly missing postseason play in 2025, this schedule gives Towson every opportunity to take the next step and compete for one of the conference’s tournament berths. With a veteran core, promising newcomers and a favorable finish to the regular season, the Tigers have reason to believe 2026 could be a breakthrough year.
