The Baltimore Ravens beat the Oakland Raiders 34 to 17 in Lamar Jackson’s second career start.
Quarterback: Lamar Jackson had two tough interceptions because he threw the ball behind receivers. Jackson completed just 14 out of 25 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown. Jackson was also the Ravens second leading rusher with 71 yards on the ground. Grade C
Running backs: Undrafted rookie Gus Edwards continues to play well, for the second straight week Edwards rushed for over 100 yards. Edwards is the real deal, he is a power running back, something the Ravens have not had in a long time. Ty Montgomery had a good game with 51 yards with only eight carries. This unit has played much better. Grade A
Receivers: With Jackson starting the receivers did not get many chances. Mark Andrews had a huge 74 yard reception and he led the Ravens in receiving yards. Michael Crabtree had three receptions including a touchdown. Willie Snead did not have a reception and John Brown just had one. Hayden Hurst had three receptions. All the tight ends except Maxx Williams had at least one reception. Grade B
Offensive line: The offensive line played great, they only allowed one sack and created big running lanes for Edwards. This unit was very solid. Grade A
Overall Offense: This unit only scored two touchdowns but the running game was able to close out the game. Grade B
Defensive Line: The Ravens held the Raiders to only 67 rushing yards. What is more impressive was Matthew Judon’s three straight sacks. Judon pretty much ended the game for the Raiders. Grade A
Linebackers: Terrell Suggs returned a fumbled caused by Matthew Judon for a touchdown in one of Suggs many great plays in his career. C.J. Mosley led the Ravens with eight tackles. This unit played well. Grade A
Secondary: Jimmy Smith continues to get better each game and the Ravens held the Raiders to just 194 yards on the ground. This unit needs to force more turnovers. Grade B+
Overall Defense: The Ravens defense came up big this game and pretty much shut down the Raiders after they scored on their opening drive. Grade B+
Special Teams: Cyrus Jones returned a punt for a touchdown, Chris Moore had some good returns on the kickoff. Justin Tucker was perfect on the day and Sam Koch had some monster punts. Grade A++++
Coaching Staff: A much needed home win against a bad team. Grade B+
Final Thoughts: The Ravens need to study the film on Jackson before they decide if they really want him to remain the starter.
