Alex Ovechkin wins seventh Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin won the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy for the seventh time in his career Wednesday night. The Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy is awarded to the top goal scorer of the year for the NHL regular season.

Ovechkin scored 49 goals in the regular season to lead the NHL. Ovechkin would go on to lead the NHL playoffs in scoring as well as he lead the Caps to win the Stanley Cup.

Ovechkin continues to add to his legacy as he shows no sign of slowing down. I think Ovechkin was snubbed by not winning the Hart Trophy which is awarded to the league MVP. Tyler Hall won the Hart Trophy which I thought was undeserving.
