2026 Maryland Private School Men’s Rugby Power Rankings

Maryland private-school rugby took another major step forward during the 2026 season.

The MIAA continued evolving into one of the East Coast’s toughest high school rugby conferences with stronger athlete development, deeper rosters and increasingly physical postseason competition. Loyola Blakefield reclaimed the conference crown, Archbishop Spalding continued its rise as a state power and several programs strengthened the overall depth of Maryland rugby.

Here are the final 2026 Maryland private-school men’s rugby power rankings.


1. Loyola Blakefield Dons

Record: 5-0 — MIAA Champions

Loyola Blakefield finished undefeated and captured its first MIAA rugby championship since 2022 after defeating Archbishop Spalding 28-21 in the title game.

The Dons combined elite team defense, outstanding conditioning and balanced offensive production throughout the season.

Koors, Rosen and Spencer each scored tries in the championship victory while Connor Johnson added a critical second-half try to stop Spalding’s comeback attempt. Marco Taylor’s conversions proved huge late in the match.

2. Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers

Record: 5-4 — MIAA Runner-Up

Archbishop Spalding once again proved it belongs among Maryland rugby’s elite programs after reaching another MIAA championship game.

The Cavaliers nearly erased a 21-0 halftime deficit in the title match before falling just short against Loyola.

The Cardinals played physical rugby throughout the season and remained competitive in several close matches.

Salesianum once again proved dangerous against Maryland competition.
