2019 Projections for Robert Neustrom

The 30th ranked prospect for the Baltimore Orioles was selected in last year’s draft in the 5th round. Last year the 22 year old right fielder from Iowa hit a .272 for the Orioles’ short season-A team known as the Aberdeen Ironbirds.

One thing that he will have to work on is not pulling the ball. There are times where he will focus on using opposite field hitting, but most of the time he will try to pull it.

Neustrom has decent speed, but is a little sluggish coming out of the batter’s box. As a right fielder for Iowa, he possessed an average at best arm, which was also showcased last season in short season-A.

Neustrom’s reads and routes have a lot of room for improvement before he is even considered to be called up to the MLB. Right now, his scouting grade is a 40 overall score (which is below average), as per MLB Prospect Watch.

For the 2019 season, the 22 year old is expected to land himself a spot on the Delmarva Shorebirds or the Frederick Keys with a chance of a call up to AA Bowie towards the end of the season. Fans should not expect to see Neustrom in the big leagues until late 2021.
