Notes-

Tonight is former Hershey Bear, and long time team veteran Jay Beagle’s 400th NHL game! Congratulations for Beags tonight.

Washington has lost 4 of 5, and have been outscored 19-12. Braden Holtby should get the start tonight in the first of back-to-back games. In the 4 losses, the Capitals power play has been 2-for-13, and have given up 4 power play goals. Nicklas Backstrom (11 pts.) and Evgeny Kuznetsov (10 pts.) are still in the top 5 in the league. Capitals power play still is in the top 10 at 26.1%.

Detroit has lost 3 of its previous 5 games, and during that stretch are 2-for-18 on the power play, including an 0-for-10 in the last three games. The Red Wings is near the bottom at 14.8%, which ranks 24th. The one thing that is promising, the penalty is in the top 5 at 86.7 percent. Former Capitals defenseman, Mike Green, leads the team with 9 points (1G-8A), and winger Henrik Zetterberg leads Detroit with 4 goals. Jimmy Howard should get the nod in goal, and currently is 5-3-1 with a 2.54 GAA.

Capitals assistant coach Lane Lambert was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round, 25th overall, in the 1983 NHL Draft. Lambert appeared in 176 games with the Red Wings from 1983-86, registering 65 points (36g, 29a) and 349 penalty minutes.
