The Baltimore Orioles have claimed Hanser Alberto from the New York Yankees, after he was designated for assignment by the Yankees to make room on their roster for former Orioles closer, Zach Britton.
To correspond this move, the Orioles have designated catcher, Andrew Susac for assignment.
Alberto, a career .192 hitter in major league games, all with the Rangers, has spent four seasons at the Triple-A level, and is a career .309 hitter in Triple A.
Alberto, a 26 year old right hander, has been with the Yankees since he was claimed off waivers from the Rangers in November of 2018.
While he does not provide much upside or potential, he is known for versatility, as he can play all 4 infield positions, and adds much needed depth.
The Orioles 40 man roster is completely full.
