Ravens make cuts, have the roster down to the final 53 players

The NFL deadline for the 53 man rosters to be turned in was today at 4 PM eastern time. The Ravens followed suite but not without a surprise or two along the way. The big cut that was a shock was wide Receiver Breshad Perriman. The former first round draft pick of the Ravens had been shopped leading to the deadline, however no one would bite on a deal. The Ravens instead had to waive the pass catcher making him the first top round pick to be cut or waived by the Ravens in franchise history.

This is the final preseason and roster cuts to 53 for one of the best general managers in the NFL Ozzy Newsome. He made a big decision on cutting Breshad Perriman, but how about a player he decided to keep that was a surprise? The Ravens have a starting quarterback in Joe Flacco, the just drafted a future play caller in Lamar Jackson, but now the Ravens have reserected the career of former heisman tropy winning quarterback Robert Griffin III.

Keeping RG3 could just be for a matter of time. Reports across twitter and across the NFL sound like there is a bunch of interest in the play caller. Griffin played well this preseason. In three preseason games, he has completed 18 of 26 passes (69.2 percent) for 177 yards. He has thrown two touchdowns and one interception for a 97.8 passer rating.
