Ravens Activate Woodhead, Waive Escobar

The Ravens had until 4 pm this afternoon to activate running back Danny Woodhead off Injured Reserve in order for him to play tomorrow. Today around 11:50 am they did just that and waived tight end Gavin Escobar to create the roster spot

Woodhead, who was one of the Ravens’ big signings this offseason, started off strong with three receptions for 33 yards on the first drive of the season before suffering a hamstring injury.

Escobar was signed by the Ravens before their Week Eight matchup and was only a special teams player during his two games in purple.

Although Woodhead will most likely play against the Green Bay Packers, expect him to be on a snap count. Woodhead missed 9 games with this hamstring issue and the Ravens simply cannot afford him to go down again. He will most likely only come in during third downs, due to his receiving skills. Both Alex Collins and Buck Allen will lose some snaps to Woodhead, but they both will still be the main running backs.

This certainly helps the Ravens’ push for a wildcard spot, as Woodhead is as good as it gets on check-down passes (Joe Flacco’s favorite.) We are all Gritnesses to the reemergence of the Ravens’ offense.
