Orioles Roster Move
Fresh off the Orioles 10-4 comeback win in Chicago last night, the team adjusted it’s roster with two moves. MLBTradeRumors.com reported that the Orioles claimed Luis Exposito off of waivers from Boston. Exposito is a catcher who is 25 years old. He has yet to make an appearance in the major leagues. To have room for Exposito on the roster, the Orioles designated former heralded 3B prospect, Josh Bell, for assignment. Bell has demonstrated power at previous minor league level stops but his numbers are in decline for the third straight season. Bell was originally acquired from the Dodgers in the deal for former closer, George Sherrill.
The Orioles now have a decision to make regarding Bell. There are three options: place him on waivers, trade him, or outright release him. This decision HAS to be made within a 10 day period from today. This may be the reason the Orioles are determined to keep Mark Reynolds playing at third, they just have no one else in the minors. In past years, Bell was counted on as one of the new faces to lead this organization into a brighter future. Now, it appears his Orioles tenure will be finished.
