Orioles reach agreement with RHP Mychal Givens

The Baltimore Orioles have reached an agreement with right handed pitcher Mychal Givens. Givens was originally a second round pick by the Orioles in the 2009 draft and would spend his first six seasons as an Oriole. The deal is pending a physical and is for one-year worth $5 million.

Givens was traded to the Colorado Rockies for Terrin Vavra and Tyler Nevin, both of which are still on the Orioles 40-man roster. Minor Leaguer Mishael Deson was also part of the Givens deal.

Givens is 32 years old now and still has good stuff, he pitched to a 3.38 era last season for the New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs.

The Orioles bullpen was one their most improved unit in 2022 but did get taxed towards the end of the season. Givens will be able to provide depth in the bullpen and can be used in several different situations.

This should be a solid pickup for the Orioles, Givens was well liked during his time in Baltimore.
