NFL Facts Through Week three

IMG_0731.JPGAs we get to the end of NFL week three there are a lot of interesting things that have already happened.

For example, neither the San Francisco 49ers or Seattle Seahawks are in first place in the NFC West it is indeed the Arizona Cardinals with a 3-0 start in the lead. Another interesting fact the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers are both 1-2.

The Baltimore Ravens are off to a 2-1 start and look like they have a chance to make the playoffs. The Ravens who are the hometown team have been in every game but have a plus 14 point differential which is very good. Turnovers have been limited for the Ravens this year which is key. The running game looks better this year without Ray Rice. It is looking like Justin Forsett may end up being the best pickup for the Ravens this year with him being the lead back. The Ravens do have a tough game this week at home versus the Carolina Panthers but the Ravens should be able to come out with a win.

The Ravens defense has had it’s ups and downs this year but averages between 16 and 17 points a game which should keep them in every game with their offense. The best defense of player in my opinion has been rookie inside linebacker C.J. Mosley out of Alabama. I think Ozzie Newsome the GM might have made his best pick in years with Mosley who has shown great fit for the modern NFL with all the passing.

Ravens are a top 5 special teams team in my opinion. They have the arguably best kicker in the league Justin Tucker. Sam Koch the punter is in the top 10. In the return game Jacoby Jones has not been explosive this year but always has the potential.

I haven’t watched as much of the Redskins but I really like what I’ve seen so far. Yes today was a tough loss to division rival Philadelphia Eagles but they played a decent game against one of the best NFL offenses.

The Redskins offense has quite frankly looked much better with Kirk Cousins instead of Robert Griffin. Desean Jackson had an outstanding day today showing why they signed him including a 81 yard touchdown and Pierre Garçon broke out of his slump today also. Jordan Reed has had some hamstring problems but Nile Paul has filed in very well for Reed.

The defense for the Redskins is much improved. They had ten sacks versus the Jaguars last week which is great against any team. The defense had a rough day today but Chip Kelly runs a great system and gains yards against pretty much everyone. This defense is at best about top half of the league but is a pretty average defense that has their moments. If this offense can play like they have the last two weeks behind Kirk Couisns with 34 and 41 points each week.

The Redskins might have a chance to compete for the NFC East but will be difficult already being down two of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The rest of the NFL season should be great!
